Exposing Some Skin

Exposing some skin with this maxi-T looks nothing short of cool. It feels really cool too, in every sense of the word. With a gorgeous mesh texture on the top, high neckline and angular designs, this shirt is definitely one of my prized purchases.

In the spirit of bearing it all, why not throw on some ripped short shorts? And some strappy heels into the mix? Let me be frank, I am not one to expose it all. Quite the opposite actually. If you see me on a daily basis, you might be asking yourself, But Val don't you live in shorts? Well with a decade of playing sports under my belt + inheriting my dad's long legs and big calves, its actually just a real struggle to find good jeans. Hence me owning 1000 pairs of shorts.

By exposing it all I meant my upper half. And this is going to turn into a bit of a rant, so feel free to scroll to the rest of the pictures and ignore everything else.

Since I show leg on a practically day-to-day basis, I find that I feel more comfortable if at least one other body part is covered. That other body part happened to be my décolletage area. The vast majority of my T-shirts, tops, and sweaters have quite a high neckline. Or the T's and tops have 3/4 sleeves. Or even both (and those are my favourite).

I started doing this without even realising I was doing it. And its not a "self-conscious of my body" type of thing either. It just looks good and feels comfortable. I once read somewhere that thats why French women are considered to be so sexy and elegant. They only choose to expose one body part with their outfits, like their arms or a bit of décolletage. Not all at once.

And - Quelle surprise - here I am, with slits in my T up to my armpits!

I guess the bottom line is, don't be afraid to try something new. And don't be afraid to try a style you thought would never look good on you - you might just surprise yourself!
