70's Summer

hippy 70's style outfit

70's hippy style is back with full force, and more fabulous than ever. Many style icons like Alexa Chung are known for their love of the 70's and all that it represented - freedom, love, happiness, peace, musical revolution and trippy vibes.

But when I mean "70's summer style" I'm not talking about the sex crazed Woodstock junkies who are now crazy old cat ladies stuck with nothing but your fond memories of the 'good times.' Also, please do not recreate the Janis Joplin wardrobe, but rather stick to her music.

Just by borrowing some elements from those ages, I created a look wear this dope vintage shirt, but make it a little more modern with an oversized denim jacket and leather bag & boots.

Shirt - Vintage // Shorts - Cotton On // Jacket - Gap // Boots - H&M // Handbag - Givenchy // Sunglasses - Versace // Necklace - Swarovski

But to be honest, the beauty of the 70's style is that you could basically wear anything you want. Literally.Like I said, it was the time of deranged music, LSD, flower power and complete and utter chaos. In my opinion, you wear anything cropped, ripped, skinny, baggy, and you can call it '70s style.' Pretty cool. You have to remember that the art of pulling off the look nowadays though, is to select a few key or statement pieces and throw in some sort of 21st century staple or just keep everything else relatively simple. Be there or be square (or is that the 60s?).
